Meet Dr. Barry Acker
Dr. Barry Acker has over 40 years in the dental/oral surgery arena - 30+ in the Tyler area.
Dr. Barry Acker was born in Perryton, Texas. He attended Texas Christian University where he received his Bachelors of Science. Dr. Acker then went on to attend Baylor University College of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduation, he completed his residency at Southwestern Medical School in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
As a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dr. Acker became board certified in 1981. He has served on numerous committees for Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and for East Texas Medical Center. Dr. Acker is also a past President of The Smith County Dental Society and resource consultant for a consulting firm in Canada.
Dr. Acker has also been recognized by receiving several special honors which include:
- selected to participate in multiple re-constructive jaw surgeries in Guatemala
- lecturer for Belize Medical & Dental Association,
- lecturer for Singapore Oral & Maxillofacial College,
- and has lectured to numerous medical and dental groups on temporomandibular joint disorders, facial pain, trauma and dental implants.
